About the position

This position will support our Open RAN Center for Integration and Deployment (ORCID), serving a critical role in strengthening the global Open RAN ecosystem and building the next generation of wireless networks. This exciting grant represents NTIA's (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) largest award under the Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund. DISH Wireless is seeking a Senior Lab Network Engineer to design and engineer scalable network systems for our ORCID lab. The successful candidate will evaluate, test, select, and deploy foundational network elements, providing advanced technical guidance for complex projects, including upgrades to mission-critical network devices and services. In this role, you will effectively communicate engineering solutions through detailed high- and low-level diagrams. You will design, plan, and implement complex LAN/WAN/RAN configurations at a nationwide scale. Establishing requirements and providing analysis for network and services specifications, network design, network partitioning, and network architecture definition will be key responsibilities. You will provide advanced expertise in the development of network test, validation, and integration plans on projects and assurance of network integrity. Additionally, you will work independently with vendors to understand, test, and drive new innovative features.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate engineering solutions through detailed high- and low-level diagrams.
  • Design, plan, and implement complex LAN/WAN/RAN configurations at a nationwide scale.
  • Establish requirements and provide analysis for network and services specifications, network design, network partitioning, and network architecture definition.
  • Provide advanced expertise in the development of network test, validation, and integration plans on projects and assurance of network integrity.
  • Work independently with vendors to understand, test, and drive new innovative features.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in large enterprise or carrier environments.
  • Professional networking certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE) are a plus.
  • Public cloud certifications in advanced networking or cloud network engineering are a plus.
  • Expertise in service provider IP routing (MPLS, segment routing, BGP, IS-IS, VRFs, QoS) and high availability configurations.
  • Experience with network deployment and operations automation (Ansible), software-defined networking, network configuration automation (Perl, Python, Bash), and server virtualization (VMWare, OpenStack).
