About the position

The Senior Lead AI Engineer at Capital One is responsible for creating and deploying advanced AI systems that enhance customer experiences and improve operational efficiency. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop AI-powered products, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, and contributing to the technical vision of foundational AI systems. The position emphasizes the importance of responsible AI practices and aims to deliver scalable, high-performance AI infrastructure that transforms banking services.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and large language model inference.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters and PyTorch.
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of large-scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms, or Master's degree plus at least 4 years of experience.
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Nice-to-haves

• 7 years of experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
• Experience designing and supporting complex AI systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an engineering team.
• Experience developing AI algorithms using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field.
