About the position

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer, Data, you will provide technical guidance and oversight in the development of platform data components. This role emphasizes quality implementation while leading a team of data engineers. You will facilitate communication across various engineering teams, ensuring the data platform effectively ingests content and delivers application-specific data sets. The position offers opportunities for career growth, mentoring, and exploring new capabilities in data development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data engineers while also being an individual contributor.
  • Accountable for planning, delivery, operating procedures, design and architectural patterns, and on-time delivery of the NAVEX One platform data.
  • Help team members grow through mentoring, coaching, 1:1s, career planning, performance appraisals, and compensation decisions.
  • Participate in the innovative advancements of the product platform and collaborate with agile team members.
  • Promote opportunities for refactoring and identify areas of optimization.
  • Research and leverage commercial products, libraries, and tools to solve problems.
  • Participate in design sessions with engineers, architects, and product managers, providing constructive feedback during sprint retrospectives.
  • Use automation, including continuous integration, automated deployments, and automated unit and functional testing.

Requirements

  • 6+ years' software development experience and 2+ years team lead or people management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of data management systems, practices, and standards.
  • Expert analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes.
  • Strong experience with Star and Snowflake data modelling.
  • Experience with ingestion and transformational tools like AWS DMS, Fivetran, Snowflake, and DBT.
  • Expert level SQL DDL and DML query development.
  • Experience with SQL profiling, performance tuning, and data ingestion into Data Warehouses.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and focus on team-specific goals.
  • Ability to drive results through software program management, systems thinking, and technical knowledge.
