About the position

The Senior Lead Software Engineer in the Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) at JPMorgan Chase plays a crucial role in enhancing, building, and delivering advanced technology products. This position involves collaborating with a diverse team of experts to develop machine learning solutions that address complex business challenges, utilizing cutting-edge techniques in deep learning and reinforcement learning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, develop and deploy large scale, highly performant batch and real-time services that solve business critical problems.
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies.
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language - Python, Java, C++.
  • Infrastructure Deployments - Terraform.
  • Run Environments - Airflow, EKS, Lambda, ECS.
  • Object Oriented style - Gang of Four design patterns; type of hierarchies (avoid circular dependencies).
  • Mocking - Mockito framework.
  • SDLC - strong build, test, deploy, operate experience e.g., deploy and operate what you build.
  • Alerting/Monitoring - AWS Cloud Watch; Datadog.
  • Telemetry/Reporting - Splunk, Elasticsearch.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on team-wide common code frameworks.
