About the position

The Senior Leader, Commercial Product Risk Management at KeyBank National Association plays a pivotal role in the 1st Line Commercial Risk function, which is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive roadmap to manage risk effectively while supporting profitable growth for the Commercial Bank. This position is crucial for overseeing risk management across KeyBank's footprint, particularly for clients with annual revenues ranging from $10 million to $1 billion. The role encompasses managing risk for various commercial payment offerings, including Treasury Services, Commercial Card, International Trade, FX, Merchant Services, and Payments Fintech partnerships. As KeyBank expands its embedded banking offerings, the Senior Leader will be at the forefront of innovation, leveraging technology to enhance client experiences and streamline service delivery. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Risk, this senior and strategic role is highly visible within the organization. The Senior Leader is tasked with establishing a robust product risk framework, providing leadership in thought, relationships, and results. This includes serving as the primary point of contact for product risk within the Commercial Bank's Business Development and Product teams, enabling sound and profitable growth through enhanced decision-making frameworks, new product design, and the establishment of documented processes and controls. The position requires strong collaboration with a diverse set of internal and external partners, as well as the ability to influence senior stakeholders across KeyBank. A significant focus of this role is on people and talent management, which involves building a team that aligns with the organization's vision and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Continue maturing Commercial Product Risk by providing risk expertise to deliver the Product Roadmap and drive ongoing due diligence and monitoring across all products.
  • Scale and proactively manage risk across Embedded Banking, enabling VAM Launch and DACA Automation, and providing risk support for Product/Client Portfolio Monitoring.
  • Develop seamless alignment between product, 1st LOD, BRC, and 2nd LOD to drive scorecard metrics and product development milestones.
  • Focus on product/domain expertise on the product risk team to support the right outcomes on Fraud Risk.
  • Evolve and drive accountability on end-to-end risk processes, procedures, controls, tools/dashboards, and KRIs/KPIs.
  • Create alignment across partners, technology, and tools to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management practices.
  • Proactively manage all regulatory exams/risk reviews and expectations, driving effective risk MCE ratings by deepening risk behaviors and ownership.
  • Calibrate and contribute to existing established risk forums, processes, and reviews, creating comprehensive reporting around existing Compliance, Credit, and Operational Risk.
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion of all Findings, TPM, and NPD activities.
  • Support deposit strategy and primacy initiatives through risk, expanding High-Risk Portfolio Monitoring and Management.
  • Develop robust risk insights and scorecards to drive preemptive risk mitigation, designing and executing client/product portfolio monitoring and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting, or Risk Management required.
  • Master's degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting, or Risk Management preferred.
  • APRP Risk certification desirable.
  • 10-15 years of banking/financial services industry experience.
  • 7-10 years of risk management/payments experience.
  • Executive presence with the ability to build and leverage relationships and influence without direct authority.
  • Experience leading/managing teams of payments and risk management professionals.
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment, building followership.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build a shared agenda and drive results through collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, delegate, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Fluency in standing up and commercializing data/digitally driven business models, leveraging emerging technologies like big data, AI/ML, APIs, and digital platforms.
  • 10+ years of proven experience leading change and driving results from large, complex, multi-horizon innovation and transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated high level of financial and risk acumen, team building skills, managerial skills, interpersonal skills, and decision/solution effectiveness.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $200,000 to $275,000 annually depending on location and experience.
