About the position

The Senior Learning & Development Specialist plays a crucial role in the design and delivery of the learning curriculum and development programs for employees and leadership at Recology. This position operates under limited general direction and is responsible for fostering the Recology G.R.O.W. culture through effective training initiatives. The specialist partners with Corporate People & Culture and various department heads to create a comprehensive training curriculum that meets the diverse needs of the organization. In this role, the specialist designs, develops, and delivers training programs tailored to multiple levels of employees throughout the company. They lead engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and virtual sessions, ensuring that the content is relevant and impactful. A significant aspect of the position involves conducting comprehensive training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across the organization. The specialist is also responsible for developing training for the People & Culture department and other departments, facilitating the delivery of these programs effectively. The Senior Learning & Development Specialist creates and implements evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training programs, analyzing feedback and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement. They adjust delivery methods to accommodate various learning styles and needs, ensuring that all employees can benefit from the training provided. Additionally, the specialist partners with other departments to deliver training initiatives and supports change management efforts by providing necessary training resources during organizational transitions. Coaching and mentoring are also key components of this role, as the specialist provides one-on-one support to employees, particularly in areas related to professional development and skill enhancement. They monitor the linkage between curriculum and improved job performance, working closely with People & Culture Partners to ensure that learning translates effectively into performance. The specialist is expected to stay updated on industry trends and best practices to keep the training programs competitive and effective, while also ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies. Overall, this position is integral to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within Recology, ensuring that all training programs align with organizational goals and support the development of employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Corporate People & Culture and Department Heads to create training curriculum.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training to multiple levels of employees throughout the company.
  • Lead and facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and virtual sessions.
  • Deliver leadership development training in support of programs that leverage the G.R.O.W. culture and Strategic Plan.
  • Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across the organization.
  • Develop training for People & Culture and other departments to facilitate.
  • Create and implement evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Analyze feedback and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions for improving training programs and support organization goals.
  • Adjust delivery methods to meet the learning styles and needs of diverse audiences.
  • Partner effectively with other departments across the company on the delivery of training, projects, or initiatives.
  • Facilitate learning to develop participants' competencies and help learners meet specified performance expectations.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to employees, particularly in areas related to professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Monitor the linkage between curriculum and improved learner job performance.
  • Provide recommendations on effective learning tools, programs, and strategies.
  • Review industry trends and benchmarks against best practices to ensure training programs remain competitive and effective.
  • Support change management initiatives by providing training and development resources that facilitate smooth transitions during organizational changes.
  • Provide guidance and support to training and development staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ensure that all training programs comply with industry regulations and organizational policies.
  • Administer learning schedules, calendar, and maintain participant records during training.

Requirements

  • Six years of training experience.
  • Experienced in delivering training to multiple levels of leadership, such as supervisors, managers, directors, and executives.
  • Delivery of Leadership Training is preferred.
  • Change Management Certification preferred.
  • Professional Organization Development and Trainer certifications preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of leadership and change management theory and practice.
  • Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Project management skills, including planning and problem-solving.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
