About the position

The Senior Legal Counsel will be a key member of the Veeam Legal team, providing legal support on various matters including intellectual property, commercial software licensing, and SaaS. This role requires significant expertise in cloud services and involves advising sales teams on high-value transactions. The successful candidate will manage contract negotiations, provide legal advice on GDPR and data protection, and develop training for employees on compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate end user license agreements, distributor agreements, aggregator agreements, pro-partner/reseller agreements, and BaaS/SaaS agreements.
  • Manage contract forms and oversee periodic review and change processes.
  • Provide legal advice on GDPR and data protection matters related to licensing and distribution of software.
  • Resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters in existing commercial relationships.
  • Anticipate problems and initiate actions to address contractual issues efficiently.
  • Develop and deliver training for employees and executives on compliance, competition, risk management, and good contracting practices.
  • Assist with legal support for expanding business operations internationally.
  • Provide business partners with legal perspective, guidance, and risk assessment strategies.
  • Manage a central NA legal inbox and respond to queries in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Experience as an attorney with significant law firm and in-house experience focusing on general commercial contract negotiation and drafting.
  • Minimum of one to two years' experience as an in-house attorney at a technology company with cloud and SaaS experience.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating software contracts, distribution agreements, and reseller agreements.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organized approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible with a focus on business-oriented outcomes.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn.
