About the position

The Senior Level 3 Database Administrator at Deutsche Bank is a critical role within the Inhouse Global Database Support Team, responsible for managing the bank's essential database infrastructure. This position requires expertise in Oracle database administration and experience in a large investment banking environment. The role involves incident and problem management, ensuring compliance with technology roadmaps, and providing support in a follow-the-sun model, which includes weekend escalation support. The ideal candidate will lead and mentor junior team members while collaborating with various infrastructure support teams.

Responsibilities

• Rapid response to incidents, providing dedicated support to all 'Change the Bank' and 'Run the Bank' activities for Global Database infrastructure.
• Advanced system tunings to application specific requirements, including systems standardization and automation.
• Act as a Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical escalations pertaining to Database Operations, providing support to vendor teams.
• Ensure the Database environment is compliant with the technology roadmap, including database upgrades and patching.
• Participate in the follow-the-sun model, providing round-the-clock coverage, including some out-of-hours and weekend work.

Requirements

• In-depth experience with Oracle database from release 11g to 19c and Oracle technologies such as RAC, Dataguard, Goldengate, Oracle EXAC@C & EXAC@CA.
• Proficient in database administration tasks including upgrades, patching, configuration management, performance management, troubleshooting, analysis, and capacity planning.
• Strong experience in Oracle cloud and tooling such as Exadata Cloud @ Customer and Exadata Cloud @ Customer Autonomous.
• Extensive hands-on experience managing and maintaining Exadata machines, with a good understanding of compute nodes, storage cells, and Infiniband switches maintenance.
• Experience in automation through scripting (Shell, PERL) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Expert level knowledge in physical and logical backup, recovery (including flashback technologies), and database migrations.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Preferred Oracle certified master with OCI certification.
