As a Senior-Level SCADA & Automation Engineer at Sargent & Lundy, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing SCADA systems that meet operational requirements and adapt to emerging trends in the industry. This position is situated within the Electric Grid Infrastructure Services business unit, where you will engage in fast-paced client projects that involve planning, engineering, and designing SCADA and communications systems. Your work will encompass a variety of applications, including Smart Grid, Substation and Distribution Automation, Battery Energy Storage, and Microgrid controllers. In this role, you will be responsible for developing communication block diagrams, panel layout and bill of material drawings, as well as SCADA AC and DC schematics. You will also create fiber detail drawings and network drawings, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in providing reviews and design input for protection and control (P&C) drawings related to SCADA system requirements. Additionally, you will develop points lists for data transfer between Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), and master station connections. You will be tasked with configuring various devices, including RTUs such as SEL RTAC, Novatech OrionLX, and GE-D20, as well as programmable automation controllers (PACs). Programming Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications will also be part of your responsibilities, utilizing tools like SEL Diagram Builder and Wonderware. Collaboration with relay settings engineers will be essential to develop and review communication port settings for protection relays and meters. Your role will also involve developing network device configurations for switches, routers, and firewalls, and troubleshooting SCADA system networks and communication systems both remotely and onsite. You will be expected to develop comprehensive documentation for SCADA systems and networks, as well as automation tools to enhance project efficiency. Staging, configuring, and testing integrated system designs for interoperability and performance will be key components of your work, all while ensuring compliance with NERC standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). As a mentor, you will guide less experienced engineers and share your knowledge through peer-learning initiatives. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work three days in the office and two days remotely, with potential travel to client and vendor offices as needed.
