About the position

The Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (Veterans Justice Program) is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services to justice-involved veterans. This role involves clinical assessment, case management, program administration, and outreach to ensure veterans receive appropriate care and support. The counselor will work closely with various stakeholders, including treatment courts and correctional institutions, to facilitate the delivery of services and improve the overall well-being of veterans in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical assessments to identify needs and determine appropriate referrals for justice-involved veterans.
  • Provide comprehensive case management for a complex caseload of veterans, coordinating care and advocating for their needs.
  • Collaborate with criminal justice organizations and community providers to ensure continuity of care for veterans.
  • Implement and maintain referral and screening procedures for potential program participants.
  • Conduct outreach to veterans involved with the justice system, including those eligible for treatment court programs.
  • Transport veterans to appointments in the community to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • At least one year of progressively complex LPMHC experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Five years of post-licensed experience demonstrating advanced practice skills and judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment.
  • Experience with the criminal justice system.
