About the position

The Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor at the Dayton Medical Center will serve as a non-supervisory team lead within the Mental Health Clinic's Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). This role focuses on providing specialty outpatient care to Veterans, ensuring comprehensive case management, psychotherapy, and other mental health services are delivered effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the Team Lead of a multi-disciplinary team in the Specialty Mental Health Clinic setting.
  • Assist staff with managing patient panels and consulting on cases.
  • Conduct scheduling, triaging, and monitoring the flow of patients.
  • Advise on medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures.
  • Establish effective therapeutic relationships with veterans and their families.
  • Facilitate referrals based on veterans' needs and eligibility.
  • Provide consultation services regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans.
  • Conduct BHIP team huddles and meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Must have a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • At least one year of progressively complex LPMHC experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Five years of post-licensed experience demonstrating advanced practice skills and judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in providing clinical supervision to trainees or unlicensed LPMHCs.
  • Advanced knowledge of theories and modalities used in the treatment of complex mental illness.
  • Ability to design system changes based on data.
