About the position

The Senior Linux Engineer will lead the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution of Linux systems engineering initiatives. This role focuses on driving the identification and adoption of best practices in development, designing and implementing platform enhancements, and making recommendations for system improvements to enhance customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the Linux 'golden image' initiative across the organization.
  • Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
  • Test and review system designs.
  • Provide engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel, ensuring all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met.
  • Mentor and guide the work of technical staff.
  • Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements.
  • Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Understand and follow company policy.
  • Multi-task and juggle between priorities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the manager.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Linux systems engineering and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of system design and implementation best practices.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and enhancing Linux systems.
  • Ability to mentor and guide technical staff effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
