About the position

The Sr. Linux Field Application Engineer/Linux Solution Architect at Wind River is a customer-facing role focused on providing technical solutions and support to clients in the Aerospace and Defense sectors. The position involves understanding customer needs, architecting Linux solutions using Wind River's products, and guiding clients through pre-sales activities, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while meeting revenue and deployment objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with account managers on Aerospace and Defense accounts to become a trusted technical advisor.
  • Understand customer business needs and address them through Wind River's products and services.
  • Engage with customers in a consultative approach to build solution architecture leveraging Wind River Linux and Cloud portfolio.
  • Conduct pre-sales pilots, demonstrations, workshops, proofs-of-concept, evaluations, and benchmarks.
  • Establish technical relationships with customer associates to prospect new opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer-facing technical pre-sales or solution architecting roles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for technical presentations and demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of Debian-based Linux solutions and experience deploying solutions in cloud environments.
  • Solid Linux administration skills, preferably with SUSE Linux or equivalent certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux kernel, UEFI/BIOS, U-Boot/grub, and various drivers.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Python, C, C++, Rust, Go, and Shell scripting.
  • Good understanding of security aspects of Linux, including App Armor and SELinux.
  • Experience with enterprise cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes and a good understanding of AWS and Azure.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, and Docker.
  • Embedded software development experience in a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) environment is a plus.
