About the position

The Senior Linux System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of an organization's computer systems, primarily focusing on Linux/UNIX environments. This role involves troubleshooting network issues, updating equipment and software, and providing technical support for complex classified systems and networks. The position requires hands-on expertise in various IT systems and technologies, including server operating systems, virtualization, and storage solutions, while also overseeing system specifications and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and configure computer systems, ensuring reliable operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
• Perform in-depth analysis and technical support for systems.
• Design, develop, test, and integrate operational systems.
• Evaluate performance and plan for capacity and hardware upgrades.
• Oversee implementation of system specifications and documentation.
• Provide specialized expertise in multiple IT systems and technologies.
• Administer and support server operating systems and services.
• Manage storage and Data Center solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience in Linux or Windows environments.
• Hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX and Windows Server 2016/2019.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools like Ansible and Puppet.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and enterprise networking configuration.
• IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or related fields required.
• Top Secret-SCI security clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

• ITIL v3 Certification preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Oracle and SQL database management.
