About the position

The Senior Linux System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of an organization's computer systems, primarily focusing on Linux/UNIX environments. This role involves troubleshooting network issues, updating equipment and software, and providing technical support for complex classified systems and networks. The position requires a hands-on approach to system administration, with a strong emphasis on performance analysis, capacity planning, and hardware upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and configure computer systems, ensuring reliable operation and workflow management.
  • Perform in-depth analysis and technical support for systems, including complex problem resolution and user support.
  • Oversee the implementation of system specifications, including integration, testing, and documentation.
  • Provide operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis and capacity planning.
  • Administer and support server operating systems/services, storage, and Data Center solutions.
  • Exhibit strong technical skills related to various systems and storage technologies.
  • Manage and maintain Bare Metal hypervisors and configuration management/automation tools.
  • Ensure the administration and maintenance of Unix/Linux Operating Systems and SAN storage configurations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a Linux or Windows environment (Windows Server 2016/2019, RHEL, CentOS).
  • System administration and IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields required.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, XenServer, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution methodologies and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle and SQL database management.
  • Strong knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • ITIL v3 Certification preferred.
  • DoDI 8570.01m Certification required.
