About the position

The Senior Linux System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliable operation of an organization's computer systems, primarily focusing on Linux/UNIX environments. This role involves troubleshooting, system configuration, and providing technical support for complex classified systems and networks, contributing to the Department of Defense's mission to enhance national security.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and configure computer systems, ensuring reliable operation and fixing network issues.
• Perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems, including complex problem resolution and user support.
• Oversee operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis and capacity planning.
• Implement system specifications, including integration, testing, and documentation.
• Administer and support server operating systems/services, storage, and Data Center solutions.
• Exhibit strong technical skills related to various systems and storage technologies.
• Manage and maintain Bare Metal hypervisors and configuration management/automation tools.
• Ensure the administration and maintenance of Unix/Linux Operating Systems and SAN storage configurations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in a Linux or Windows environment (Windows Server 2016/2019, RHEL, CentOS).
• System administration and IT certification in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields required.
• Basic knowledge of Oracle and SQL database management.
• Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of implementing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including security and disaster recovery protocols.

Nice-to-haves

• ITIL v3 Certification preferred.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools.
