About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to provide technical support and administration for Linux, Microsoft, and Mac systems within a VMware environment. This role is critical in maintaining IT systems and ensuring operational efficiency in a 24/7/365 environment. The position is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity based in Tucson, AZ, requiring a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and administration for Linux, Microsoft, and Mac systems within a VMware environment.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain IT systems, distinguishing between isolated user issues and broader system problems.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
  • Support a 24/7/365 environment, including on-call support during after-hours outages.

Requirements

  • Experience with Linux (Red Hat), VMware, and system administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with scripting/automation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must have a TS/SCI clearance to start.
  • At least 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Linux, RedHat, or VMware system administration environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent (engineering, mathematics, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions such as Dell VXRail.
  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration of server operating systems such as Linux (CentOS, RHEL, or Ubuntu) and Microsoft Server (2012 R2/2016).
  • Experience supporting virtual desktops running Linux, Microsoft Windows, and/or MacOS.
  • Experience with log reviews, incident analysis, and identification of issue trends.
  • Experience with server patch management methodologies.
  • Time management skills with the ability to work independently within an IT Service Management/ticketing system (ServiceNow).
  • Ability to triage and properly classify incidents and prioritize work efforts accordingly.
