Senior Linux System Administrator

About the position

Amentum is currently seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to provide software testing for our award winning team. The role involves providing customer service, IT and Software testing support for software development lab in Dahlgren, VA to support Naval Surface Warfare Center development lab. The Senior Linux System Administrator will manage multiple priorities from user needs, to upgrade requirements for the lab, to test weapon system maintenance software updates. The position requires working with a small team of software engineers and data scientists to support exciting research-related software work. The candidate must be available to support Software Lab in Dahlgren, VA between 8-5 M-F with occasional flexibility to work some evening hours approaching inspections, etc.

Responsibilities

• Providing customer service, IT and Software testing support for software development lab in Dahlgren, VA to support Naval Surface Warfare Center development lab.
• Managing multiple priorities from user needs, to upgrade requirements for the lab, to test weapon system maintenance software updates.
• Working with a small team of software engineers and data scientists to support exciting research-related software work.
• Available to support Software Lab in Dahlgren, VA between 8-5 M-F with occasional flexibility to work some evening hours approaching inspections, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in technical field
• Five (5) + years' experience in Systems Administration.
• DOD 8570.01 M Level 2 or ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ or equivalent that meets IT Level 2 either at or within one (1) month of start.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance (at a minimum, must receive/be approved for an interim Secret security clearance in order to start). Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
• IT Level 2; 7 or more years of equivalent experience administering Linux/Window systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining Linux servers and tools in support of software development; to include scripting to automation tasks.
