About the position

The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will support the DEVCOM AvMC S3I Software Mission Assurance Contract at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. This role involves day-to-day system administration of hardware and software in a software test and integration lab, focusing on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of client servers and workstations. The position requires an active DoD SECRET Security Clearance and emphasizes strong communication skills and teamwork in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct day-to-day system administration of hardware and software in a software test and integration lab.
• Assist in hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, scanning, patching, and backup of client servers and workstations.
• Perform hardware and software upgrades and assist in integration and test setup.
• Apply security patches and recommended operating system (OS) patches.
• Participate in software and hardware testing for tactical systems.
• Support, troubleshoot, and resolve software/hardware conflicts/problems on various platforms including RedHat Enterprise Linux and VMware ESXi.
• Provide system performance tuning and perform backups and restores.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve client server and workstation related problems.
• Follow established software/hardware baseline configuration to set up, maintain, and configure client servers and associated workstations.
• Assist the ISSM/ISSO with documentation required for RMF compliance.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills within a team-based environment with clients and other IT personnel.
• Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications, and schedule information.
• Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical degree or 4 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Minimum 8 years experience in Linux System administration.
• Possess strong script troubleshooting and generation for applying STIG and best practice requirements.
• Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
