About the position

The Senior Linux Systems Administrator at TEKsystems is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) virtual servers. This role requires a strong understanding of RHEL OS, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience with automation concepts. The position involves working closely with customers to gather requirements, perform server builds, and ensure operational compliance while managing system performance improvements and security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Gather customer requirements and complete new server builds per operational procedures.
• Perform server decommissions per operational procedures.
• Perform day-to-day operational maintenance, customer support, and program compliance.
• Execute yum/dnf installation and updates of Red Hat packages.
• Remediation of IAVM and ACAS vulnerability reports.
• Understand and audit DISA STIG checklists, including usage of automated SCAP scans.
• Execute Ansible automation content to audit and remediate compliance.
• Define technical details within milestones for Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
• Effectively communicate with customer and implement resolution for operational compliance.
• Assess, suggest, and implement system performance improvements.
• Modify and establish storage allocation, including NFS.
• Understand, troubleshoot, and improve functionality within SELinux, AIDE, fapolicyd, firewalld, Red Hat Identity Management (RHIdM), Red Hat Satellite, and Trellix products.
• Conduct root cause analysis and articulate to customer.
• Assist customers with migrating functionality to new servers with latest RHEL OS.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support outages and occasional after-hours maintenance.
• Create and improve documented Standard Operation Procedures.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems administration.
• Active Security+ CE certification and SECRET CLEARANCE.
• BA/BS with 9+ years IT experience or MA/MS with 5+ years IT experience; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Linux environmental certificate (i.e. Linux+, RHCSA, or similar).
