About the position

The Senior Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) System Integrator position at SystemDomain is a critical role focused on maintaining and enhancing the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Center for Biological Sciences. This position is essential for tracking specimens through the analytical testing process, which includes both pre-analytical and post-analytical phases. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory stakeholders, subject matter experts, LIMS vendor partners, and state IT professionals to document and audit current laboratory workflow processes and functionalities. This documentation will be pivotal in capturing the implementation requirements for a new LIMS, ensuring that the system meets the specific needs of the laboratory. The role involves conducting a thorough gap analysis to identify potential points of improvement and innovation, as well as mandatory required mitigations. The incumbent will be expected to perform hands-on tracking and mitigation of issues as the project progresses, contributing significantly to the success of the State Health Laboratories by improving data management, efficiency, and compliance. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to enhancing laboratory operations through effective use of technology. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Senior LIS System Integrator will oversee the LIMS implementation project, managing timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Change management will also be a key aspect of this role, as the incumbent will need to address user concerns and foster adoption of the new system. The position will also involve integrating the LIMS with other laboratory systems, generating reports, and analyzing data to identify trends that can improve laboratory performance.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis: Understanding the laboratory's specific needs, workflows, and data management requirements to inform the LIMS implementation strategy.
  • System Configuration: Providing requirements to the LIMS vendor for customizing the LIMS software to match the laboratory's specific requirements, including data structures, workflows, and reporting.
  • Data Migration: Assist in evaluating strategies for transferring existing laboratory data into the new LIMS system accurately and efficiently.
  • User Training: Developing and delivering training programs to laboratory staff on how to effectively use the LIMS system.
  • System Validation: Ensuring the LIMS system meets regulatory compliance standards and performs as expected.
  • Go-Live Support: Providing on-site or remote support during the initial implementation and system launch.
  • Post-Implementation Support: Offering ongoing support, troubleshooting, and system enhancements.
  • Project Management: Overseeing the LIMS implementation project, including timelines, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Change Management: Managing the transition to the new LIMS system, addressing concerns, and fostering user adoption.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to optimize laboratory workflows and improve efficiency through LIMS utilization.
  • System Integration: Integrating the LIMS with other laboratory systems, such as instruments and data management platforms.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Generating reports and analyzing data to identify trends and improve laboratory performance.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of practical experience with Lab Information Systems, Middleware solutions, Laboratory Automation, HL7/ASTM Standards, Clinical Data Management, Clinical Systems Integration.
  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Biological Sciences, or Medical Technologies.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and workflows.
