About the position

The Hospitality Manager at Discovery Village at The Forum IL is responsible for overseeing culinary strategies and daily activities to enhance resident satisfaction and deliver hospitality excellence. This role involves collaboration with the Executive Chef and Executive Director to create memorable dining experiences, manage staff, and implement training initiatives that foster a positive team culture and exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Support operational and culinary teams with strategies to drive hospitality excellence.
  • Initiate customer satisfaction surveys and focus groups to gauge community hospitality in dining venues.
  • Analyze point of sale data and develop action plans to improve service quality.
  • Manage the pre-meal experience with the Executive Chef and service staff.
  • Provide regular hospitality training to front of house team members in collaboration with the Executive Chef and Executive Director.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community residents.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by staying current on food and beverage trends.
  • Create memorable experiences for residents and their guests.
  • Build an inviting dining program where every day is a celebration.
  • Create an atmosphere of belonging and friendship for residents.
  • Supervise all culinary front of the house staff, including scheduling and performance reviews.
  • Interview, hire, and train staff for culinary and front of house positions.
  • Manage front of house labor budget and inventory.
  • Assist in planning and executing special events, banquets, and theme meals.
  • Establish beverage programs and seasonal specials.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, residents, and culinary team.
  • Work with community leadership to achieve maximum results in attendance and staffing.
  • Ensure high satisfaction levels are delivered to residents and family members.
  • Assist kitchen and restaurant staff with operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of previous experience in fine dining.
  • Two years of supervisory and management experience, including hiring staff and performance management.
  • State/Federal Food Handling and Sanitation certificate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel.
