The Senior Logistics Engineer, Industrial at DSV is a pivotal role responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes while driving continuous performance improvement. This position requires a deep understanding of client needs and the ability to support multifaceted operations. The engineer will contribute to the overall facility layout and design, determining the appropriate equipment to support operational concepts. Additionally, the role involves maintaining financial and engineering metrics to meet or exceed performance goals, and at times, providing guidance and training to interns or co-ops. In this role, the engineer will ensure that all distribution system functionalities are optimized for performance, utilizing work measurement techniques and analyzing work samples to develop labor utilization standards. The engineer will also analyze contractual commitments and customer specifications to drive continuous improvement. Special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions will be performed, along with cost/benefit tradeoff analyses to develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system, or technology changes. The Senior Logistics Engineer will document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions, review data to summarize expectations, and identify areas for improvement based on data analysis and observations. Communication is key, as the engineer will need to convey opportunities for improvement in the distribution network and assist in developing training materials for distribution processes. The role also involves facilitating LEAN methodology and utilizing statistical tools to drive continual improvement programs, ensuring that all projects include a sustainability component. Project management is another critical aspect of this role, where the engineer will assist in developing and rolling out growth strategies and projects, establishing and tracking project actions, and leading meetings with operations through completion. The engineer will also identify and procure necessary capital expense items to support successful operation launches and participate in quality planning sessions with clients to validate requirements and processes.
