About the position

The Senior Logistics Manager position at Ryder in Charlotte, NC, is a pivotal role within our Supply Chain Solutions division. This position is designed for an experienced professional who will provide leadership for the Distribution Center and oversee supervisors responsible for turnkey warehousing and transportation solutions. The Senior Manager will interface directly with customers to ensure that issues are resolved promptly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires strategic operational planning and execution, identifying and solving operational issues through continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives to enhance team unity, productivity, and results. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for hiring, supervising, developing, and managing the performance of employees, fostering a positive employee relations environment at assigned accounts. Effective communication within work groups and across the organization is essential. The Senior Logistics Manager will review data, implement necessary actions, and may manage profit and loss statements depending on the complexity and scope of the organization. Additionally, the role includes leading a proactive safety program consistent with company policy to ensure a safe and secure work environment, instructing and enforcing location safety management plans, and monitoring equipment maintenance through checklists and observations. The position also involves performing other duties as assigned, making it a dynamic role that requires adaptability and a proactive approach to logistics management.

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with the customer to ensure timely resolution of issues and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Strategic operational planning and execution for the operation.
  • Identify and solve operational issues by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives.
  • Hire, supervise, develop, and manage performance for employees, maintaining a positive employee relations environment.
  • Maintain open and effective communications within work groups and with other departments.
  • Review data and implement necessary actions as required.
  • Manage profit and loss statements based on the complexity and scope of the organization.
  • Lead a proactive safety program consistent with company policy to provide a safe work environment.
  • Instruct and enforce location safety management plans, training, and processes.
  • Monitor equipment maintenance for assigned work groups using checklists and observations.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain preferred.
  • Master's degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse or industry related field required.
  • Five (5) years or more managing, leading and developing direct reports required.
  • Three (3) years or more Profit & Loss responsibility preferred.
  • One (1) year or more customer interaction preferred.
