About the position

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer at GEICO is responsible for building high-performance, low maintenance, and zero-downtime platforms powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This role focuses on innovating and developing a modernized document management system that integrates with various business applications, driving the transformation of GEICO's insurance business. The engineer will lead the technical roadmap for document intelligence, ensuring engineering excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate machine learning models for the document management domain.
  • Coordinate with product managers, engineering team members, and customers to solve complex problems.
  • Leverage open-source frameworks and embrace cloud-native development.
  • Mentor and coach engineering and product community members.
  • Promote engineering excellence and improve processes across teams.

Requirements

  • Fluency in at least two modern programming languages such as Java, Golang, Python, or C# with a focus on object-oriented design.
  • Experience in building data-intensive large-scale systems with a focus on fault-tolerance and throughput.
  • Extensive knowledge of AI/ML models, algorithms, and MLOps best practices.
  • Expertise in building enterprise-grade AI/ML products at scale.
  • Experience in Document Intelligence product development.
  • Experience with micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
  • Experience in system architecture and design, including reliability and scaling.
  • Fluency in DevOps concepts and CI/CD best practices.
  • Experience with application performance monitoring tools and performance assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures and algorithms in computer science.
  • Ability to solve analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with open-source frameworks for at least 4 years.
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch for at least 3 years.
  • Experience with MLOps frameworks like MLflow and Kubeflow for at least 3 years.
