About the position

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer at the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is responsible for designing and developing Python code to enhance the Medicine Supply Map. This role involves integrating new supply chain data, performing exploratory data analysis, and maintaining existing machine learning models. The engineer will collaborate with technical teams and IT to improve platform functionalities and create data visualizations for stakeholders. The position emphasizes a commitment to quality and inclusivity in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structured, vectorized Python code following best practices.
  • Lead efforts to source, import, and integrate new supply chain data into the Medicine Supply Map.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and test hypotheses to uncover relationships within the data.
  • Build, maintain, and support existing machine learning models and evaluate their performance.
  • Collaborate with technical team members to create requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Partner with IT to enhance existing platform functionalities.
  • Design and build data visualizations, dashboards, and reports for stakeholders.
  • Present insights and manage expectations related to deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics, or related field with 48 months of experience, or a Master's degree with 24 months of experience in a related occupation.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical supply chain data.
  • Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Ability to write scalable, production-ready Python code.
  • Experience in project management and implementing large-scale data science projects.
  • Skills in sourcing and integrating data into tech stacks.
  • Experience in analyzing modeling implications and building visualizations.
  • Knowledge of appropriate algorithms, model development, validation, and interpretation of outputs.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud platform and version control software.
  • Experience with Matplotlib and Seaborn for data visualization.
  • Statistical analysis experience in hypothesis testing and research design.
