About the position

The position at TikTok involves leading the development of search and recommendation systems to enhance user experience on the platform. The role focuses on building a robust infrastructure for TikTok Search, driving business growth through innovative machine learning solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will contribute to the evolution of TikTok Search into a multi-billion-user product while fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving within the team.

Responsibilities

• Support business development of TikTok Search, providing the best search experience for TikTok users and enabling content growth.
• Leverage modern machine learning, LLM, and recommendation/search/ads experience to improve search products.
• Build a search inspiration recommendation system and develop algorithms to improve recommendation quality.
• Drive strategy work, partner with cross-functional teams, and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience leading the development of Search, Recommendation, Ads, NLP, LLM, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python, C/C++, Golang, Java, or Scala.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 years of machine learning related industry experience.
• Decent understanding of modern search/recommendation/ads and machine learning systems.
• Ability to apply machine learning algorithms to real business products and drive business growth.
• Ability to partner closely with teams within the organization and with customers to execute on the vision for the long-term success of our product teams.
