About the position

The Data Scientist position at CoreLogic is part of the Data Science & Analytics organization, which serves as a Center of Excellence in the housing and insurance industry. The role focuses on applying scientific expertise to create actionable insights that drive the global real estate economy. The Data Scientist will work in a hybrid-remote environment, utilizing advanced analytics, econometric modeling, and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems and support clients in making informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify problems and anticipate effects across business communities.
  • Conduct complex statistical analyses and complete studies of real estate and mortgage-related data.
  • Apply econometric modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques to discover patterns from complex real estate data.
  • Make forecasts and predictions based on modeling and analysis of multiple economic and human factors.
  • Prepare and maintain programs and documentation for asset and asset risk models.
  • Perform modeling and analysis using various data mining, machine learning, statistical, and mathematical techniques.
  • Drive the monitoring and re-engineering of current models and their prototypes as needed.
  • Conceive, lead, and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects independently.
  • Assess and communicate research results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand business requirements and conceptualize analytic solutions to those business problems.
  • Troubleshoot, guide others, and drive solutions to a wide variety of highly complex problems.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales analytic support for partners, prospects, and clients.
  • Analyze the present model performance to partners, clients, and prospects.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Master of Arts Degree in Data Science, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or Finance preferred.
  • At least 2 years of industry or academic experience in econometric modeling, machine learning techniques, data mining, or statistical modeling for clients on real-world problems.
  • Proficiency in the housing market is a plus.
  • Experience building models in a cloud environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, R, C++, Scala.
  • Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience with Linux-based terminals, including shell scripting and command-line operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud-based platforms - GCP preferred.
  • Big data expertise and experience with technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, etc are a plus.
  • Detail-oriented; strong presentation skills, experienced with client interaction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner to key customers and explain business needs to technical personnel.
  • Solid interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate clearly to partners, prospects, clients and colleagues verbally and in written form.
  • Able to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in formulating business problems and designing analytic approaches.
  • Able to effectively present analytic insights and modeling techniques internally and externally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive.
  • Proficiency in cloud environments for model building.
