About the position

As a Senior Machine Learning Scientist at Best Buy, you will work with industry experts to research, develop, and apply advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. Your role will focus on building innovative technologies and services that address complex challenges and drive growth for the company. You will leverage your software engineering skills and knowledge of ML and AI to contribute to the development and operationalization of models and algorithms that enhance customer experiences and transform daily operations at Best Buy.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop large-scale AI solutions, focusing on applied science and algorithmic excellence.
  • Utilize AI algorithms and techniques to solve real business problems that benefit millions of Best Buy customers.
  • Contribute hands-on to the roadmap of Best Buy's core AI capabilities using extensive knowledge of AI/ML algorithms.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams including AI, data, platforms, products, analytics, business, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related).
  • Strong machine learning and algorithmic background with a deep understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning methods, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a wide spectrum of cross-functional team members.
  • 4+ years of experience in designing and implementing personalization-driven ML solutions with model metrics tracked via A/B testing.
  • 4+ years of coding experience with Python.
  • 4+ years of experience with massaging, cleaning, and standardizing tabular and free form text data for ML models.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or Ph.D in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related).
  • 4+ years of experience in applying deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, MXNet or ONNX to solve NLP problems.
  • Experience building & deploying ML products over Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS.
  • Open source contributions or a robust GitHub portfolio.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art sequence to sequence models and experience with transformer-based architecture.
