About the position

The Senior Managed Services Engineer will be responsible for overseeing system and network administration in a multi-disciplinary production environment. This role requires a strong technical background, particularly in SQL Administration and PowerShell Scripting, along with the ability to manage Level 3 technical support and special projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management and communication skills, and will be expected to work independently while mentoring junior staff and improving business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for following best-practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Managing Level 3 service desk tickets as needed as our NOC serves as a primary escalation point for Level 3 tickets.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Escalation point for on-call resources as required.
  • Write and continuously improve SOPs and other documentation.
  • Business process improvement for service and project delivery.
  • Obtain and keep current partner training including Cisco, VMware, EMC, Microsoft, and Veeam.
  • Obtain and keep current high-level knowledge of ConnectWise (ERP) and Automate (RMM) tools including workflow design and implementation, reporting, and automation.
  • High-level point-of-contact for customers, vendors, partners, and distributors.
  • Corporate Systems, (network & server,) administration and oversight.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • 10 to 15 years of technical experience in a multi-disciplinary production environment.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • High-level Windows System Administration in a production environment - Desktop and Server.
  • Database administration including SQL query manipulation.
  • Remote Support and Administration.
  • Anti-virus administration.
  • IT Security tools and best-practices.
  • Backup and recovery software.
  • Record of resolving difficult IT challenges.
  • In-depth troubleshooting of hardware and OS issues.
  • VMware Experience.
  • Mobile device support.
  • Wired and wireless networking concepts and hardware.
  • Proficient in PowerShell Scripting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure/Entra.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Intune.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Server OS & Administration.
  • Proficient in LAN/WAN/VPN design & Administration.
  • Familiar with Automation (Rewst,) and OpenAI.
  • Proficient in API.

Nice-to-haves

  • MSP Experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP and remote monitoring software is a plus.
  • Any of the following skills are a plus: Cisco IOS and ASA, Remote Monitoring and Management Tools, Linux administration, SEIM tools, SharePoint administration and/or development, ERP, CRM, and Project Management software experience.
