About the position

Zurich E&S Financial Lines is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Wholesale Public, Management Liability team. This role is pivotal in our growing E&S Financial Lines team and is dedicated to the wholesale broker channel. The position offers flexibility, allowing candidates to work from New York City, Chicago, or Atlanta, with a hybrid working schedule that includes both in-office and virtual work. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting and performing financial analysis across various management liability products, including Directors and Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Crime, and Fiduciary insurance for publicly traded commercial companies of all sizes. In this role, you will engage in technical, production/transactional, and market-facing responsibilities. You will contribute to product and proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management. The position will be filled at either the Senior Underwriter (Level III) or AVP, Senior Underwriter (Level IV) level, depending on the selected applicant's experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position. Your responsibilities will include generating, underwriting, and analyzing new and renewal policies for D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Fidelity/Crime. You will be market-facing and work closely with wholesale brokers, administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules. You will manage a portfolio of accounts, develop a pipeline of business, and collaborate with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich to cross-sell products effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Generating, underwriting, and analyzing D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Fidelity/Crime new and renewal policies.
  • Market facing and production with wholesale brokers.
  • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
  • Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
  • Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business.
  • Collaborating and cross selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area for Level III.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area for Level IV.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
