About the position

As a Senior Manager of Accounting Operations & Systems at Asana, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our rapidly growing company. Our finance team is dedicated to tracking and understanding the factors that drive our growth and success, ensuring that we meet our operational and financial goals while embodying our core values. This position is integral to our Revenue Accounting & Operations Team, which is focused on optimizing our quote-to-cash and revenue accounting processes. You will work closely with various teams, including Sales, Revenue Operations, Partner Operations, Professional Services, Finance Transformation, Legal, Product, and IT, to build a scalable foundation for our enterprise processes and address the revenue implications of new initiatives. In this role, you will combine both technical and operational aspects of revenue management, serving as the subject matter expert on revenue accounting across cross-functional teams. You will ensure that our quote-to-cash processes are scalable and that revenue recognition aligns with US GAAP, ASC 606, and company policies as our product portfolio expands. Additionally, you will lead automation projects and streamline processes in collaboration with Finance Transformation and other partners. This position is based in our San Francisco office with a hybrid schedule, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work. Your contributions will be crucial in updating revenue recognition policies as needed for Product, Partnerships, and Professional Services, and you will integrate deeply with Product, Sales, and Marketing to build a comprehensive understanding of our offerings. Responsibilities

  • Combine technical and operational aspects of revenue management and execution with a focus on optimizing quote-to-cash and revenue accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with teams such as Sales, Revenue Operations, Partner Operations, Professional Services, Finance Transformation, Legal, Product, and IT to build a scalable foundation for enterprise quote-to-cash processes.
  • Serve as the revenue accounting subject matter expert across cross-functional teams, providing guidance on SaaS, consumption models, and partner agreements.
  • Ensure quote-to-cash processes are scalable and revenue recognition aligns with US GAAP, ASC 606, and company policies as the product portfolio expands.
  • Update revenue recognition policies as needed for Product, Partnerships, and Professional Services.
  • Lead automation projects and streamline processes with Finance Transformation and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance operations and accounting, preferably in a high-growth, multinational environment with $100M+ annual revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue recognition rules, especially ASC 606.
  • Experience with Netsuite, Zuora Billing, Zuora Revenue, and Salesforce CPQ preferred.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS revenue accounting, consumption revenue, professional services, and partnership accounting.
  • Big-4 or equivalent national accounting firm experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
