About the position

The Senior Manager, Accounting Payroll at MGM Resorts International is responsible for overseeing the planning and organization of resources to perform routine and scheduled accounting functions. This role ensures that the team is effectively trained, processes are reviewed, and communication regarding changes and issues is distributed appropriately. The manager is expected to uphold the core values of the department while ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies, ultimately contributing to the financial integrity of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize resources for routine and scheduled accounting functions.
  • Ensure team training and appropriate review of work products.
  • Communicate changes, issues, or status to affected parties.
  • Model core values of the department in interactions with others.
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts reflect accurate financial positions according to GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Enhance process design across multiple business units for scalability and consistency.
  • Recommend strategy and implementation design for new business or increased volumes.
  • Monitor and drive the LEAN Educated program and training within the team.
  • Participate in execution of FSSC strategy for continuous improvements.
  • Initiate and sponsor automation processes that support strategic direction.
  • Build, develop, and improve operations, processes, and procedures in accounting services.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial controls and risk mitigation elements.
  • Manage service level expectations, performance metrics, and KPIs.
  • Coordinate activities and document production for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure accurate journal entries for accrual basis accounting transactions.
  • Maintain accounting records in compliance with MGM Resorts policies.
  • Monitor regulatory business licenses, taxes, and reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience in accounting or finance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation technologies such as RPA and AI.
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
