About the position

The Senior Manager, Advertising Creative Operations at UMGC plays a pivotal role in the Office of Marketing Services, reporting directly to the Director of Creative Operations. This position is essential for providing comprehensive support to the Creative and Media Strategy teams, focusing on account services, project management, and traffic functions. The primary objective is to ensure that requests for both offline and digital advertising assets are effectively scoped, prioritized, and delivered on time. The Senior Manager is expected to possess an expert understanding of advertising creative production and project management best practices, along with the ability to foster positive relationships with external stakeholders and internal marketing teams. In this role, the Senior Manager will oversee the production of various creative advertising assets, including digital, broadcast, print, and out-of-home media. They will recommend and implement project management best practices tailored to the specific needs of the Creative and Media Strategy teams. Acting as a solutions-oriented liaison, the Senior Manager will facilitate communication between the Creative Strategy, Media Strategy, and Internal Creative Services teams, as well as external advertising agencies, ensuring the production of high-quality assets at a high volume and velocity. The Senior Manager will leverage the Workfront project management tool to optimize project deliverables and align with the organization’s objectives. They will organize quarterly planning meetings with the Media and Creative Strategy teams to proactively strategize and allocate resources to meet established goals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, as the Senior Manager will maintain a positive perspective and manage relationships with partners and creative producers. Additionally, they will be responsible for managing projects within the Workfront tool, leading kick-off meetings, and ensuring that all team members are aligned on their tasks and responsibilities. The role requires the development of work plans and timelines that adhere to Marketing Services guidelines, setting clear expectations with requesters regarding deliverables and timelines. The Senior Manager will also create tools and processes to maintain high levels of project status transparency, providing regular updates and reports as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Creative Operations support for production of creative advertising assets including digital, broadcast, print and out-of-home.
  • Recommend, implement, monitor and optimize project management best practices for the Creative and Media Strategy teams.
  • Act as a liaison between the Creative Strategy, Media Strategy, and Internal Creative Services teams and external advertising agencies.
  • Leverage and structure the Workfront project management tool for deliverables and organizational objectives.
  • Organize quarterly planning meetings with the Media and Creative Strategy teams.
  • Maintain effective communication with partners and creative producers.
  • Manage projects within the Workfront project management tool.
  • Schedule and lead kick-off and process meetings, providing recaps and follow-ups.
  • Prioritize work with creative operations and the creative team, negotiating as needed.
  • Develop work plans and timelines within Marketing Services guidelines.
  • Set expectations with requesters regarding deliverables and timelines.
  • Develop tools and processes for project status transparency and generate updates and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, English, or communications.
  • 7-10 years of project management experience in an advertising agency, marketing services firm, or in-house marketing organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to gain support and cooperation from others.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to ensure timely delivery of work.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
