About The Position

The Senior Manager, Advocacy at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society plays a pivotal role in mobilizing resources and driving advocacy efforts to support individuals affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). This position is designed for a strategic leader who will oversee advocacy initiatives across multiple states, ensuring that the Society's mission to drive research for a cure and address the challenges faced by those with MS is effectively communicated and acted upon. The Senior Manager will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including District Activist Leaders, Government Relation Advisory Committee members, and legislative officials, to foster relationships that advance the Society's policy priorities. In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing advocacy strategies that align with the Society's strategic plan. This includes designing legislative strategies based on a thorough understanding of state and local priorities, monitoring policy interests, and elevating issues to priority status as necessary. The Senior Manager will also lead coalitions that support the Society's policy agenda, ensuring that activists are informed about relevant legislation and public policies. The position requires a strong focus on activist engagement, where the Senior Manager will actively participate in community coalitions, recruit and engage activists, and manage a portfolio of over 60 relationships that influence policy makers. The Senior Manager will leverage Society communications and events to promote advocacy engagement opportunities and ensure that activists are regularly updated on the progress and impact of advocacy work at the state level. Additionally, the Senior Manager will contribute to team responsibilities by leading work groups, providing support and feedback to colleagues, and utilizing matrix management techniques to foster relationships with local market leaders. This role is essential in ensuring that the Society's advocacy efforts are cohesive, impactful, and aligned with the needs of the MS community.
