About the position

The Senior Manager, AI Engineer at Capital One is responsible for leading the development and deployment of AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions and improve operational efficiency. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create scalable AI solutions, leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies to optimize performance and ensure responsible AI practices. The position is pivotal in shaping the technical vision and roadmap for foundational AI systems within the organization, contributing to Capital One's mission of transforming banking through innovative AI applications.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and large language model inference.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters and PyTorch.
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of large scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree plus at least 4 years of experience in the same field.
• At least 6 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Nice-to-haves

• 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor an engineering team and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience developing AI and ML algorithms using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
