About the position

As a Senior Manager in Benefits Accounting, Audit and Operations, you will manage the accounting, audit, and finance processes for health and welfare plans. This role involves leading audit, accounting, and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing benefit operations projects. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the wellbeing of associates and provide necessary resources for their success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee audit and financial reporting processes for ERISA plans, including SOX compliance and Form 5500 review.
  • Manage accounting processes, including monthly close and funding wires for vendor payments.
  • Conduct regular plan monitoring and analysis to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal partners for financial benefits program information for the annual proxy statement.
  • Facilitate the transition of financial benefits processes from legacy systems to SAP.
  • Manage accounting and audit projects, developing cross-functional audit plans and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Drive efficiencies in accounting and audit processes through automation and integration opportunities.
  • Communicate accounting and audit information to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with internal audit standards.
  • Drive execution of business plans and projects, identifying needs and developing priorities.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates, ensuring a team-based work environment.
  • Promote company policies and ensure compliance with ethical standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current plans and initiatives, soliciting feedback for improvements.
  • Drive global audit framework and planning to mitigate company risks.
  • Assign and direct staff in validating control design and effectiveness, identifying process deficiencies.
  • Partner with benefits team members to manage benefit operations projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or auditing, preferably in benefits-related roles.
  • Experience with health and welfare plan operations.
  • Knowledge of ERISA and health and welfare plans.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, financial reporting, and SOX compliance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is a plus.
  • Experience in information technology or financial analysis.
