About the position

The Senior Manager Business Operations Transformation at The AES Corporation will play a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency of AES Global Renewables. Reporting to the Senior Director of Continuous Improvement and guided by the Program Management Office of AES' Global Renewable Scale to Grow Program (GRS2G), this position is designed for a leader who is passionate about driving organizational improvements and fostering a culture of continuous enhancement. The Senior Manager will oversee a team of business operations specialists, focusing on the development of people, processes, technology, systems, and procedures, collectively referred to as 'ways of working'. These enhancements will align with the GRS2G program objectives, which include supporting the growth of AES' Global Renewables business at scale, increasing the on-time and on-budget performance of renewable energy project delivery, and improving the overall experience of AES Renewables personnel. In this role, the Senior Manager will gain a comprehensive understanding of the AES Global Renewables Organization, collaborating with various functional groups at all levels of seniority. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on organizational improvements necessary to maintain AES Global Renewables' status as an industry leader in renewable energy and decarbonization solutions. The Senior Manager will be responsible for identifying, planning, and communicating areas for improvement by gathering insights from across the company and synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations. They will design and facilitate workstreams using the GRS2G methodology, ensuring that the right stakeholders are engaged in developing solutions to complex organizational challenges. Additionally, the Senior Manager will enable change management around improvements, working closely with workstream leaders and the Change Management Team to ensure new ways of working are effectively communicated and adopted. This includes developing change management plans, identifying impacted audiences, and creating educational materials to facilitate understanding and implementation of changes. The role also involves driving continuous improvement feedback loops to adapt the GRS2G program to the dynamic business environment of AES Global Renewables, ensuring that the organization remains agile and responsive to feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and communicate areas for improvement across the organization.
  • Design and facilitate workstreams using the GRS2G methodology.
  • Engage with internal partners to develop solutions to organizational challenges.
  • Plan and facilitate quarterly GRS2G improvement workshops.
  • Develop quarterly sprint improvement plans with workstream leaders.
  • Lead cross-functional teams using agile/scrum methodologies for project delivery.
  • Draft and support the creation of critical business operations documents and materials.
  • Support the identification and engagement of senior business leaders for key decisions.
  • Apply facilitation techniques to foster collaboration and critical thinking in workstreams.
  • Report on progress of improvement workstreams to ensure quarterly objectives are met.
  • Work closely with workstream leaders and the Change Management Team to enable change management around improvements.
  • Develop change management plans and educational materials to support new ways of working.
  • Drive continuous improvement feedback loops to adapt the GRS2G program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in organizational change/process management and/or business consulting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of managing healthy conflict while maintaining interpersonal business relationships.
  • Training or accreditation in Lean Six Sigma and/or Agile Methodologies is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with digital management systems and/or Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
  • PMP certification or PMI experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and renewable generation technologies is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint; capabilities in SAP ERP implementation is a plus.
