About the position

The Senior Manager, Business Operations at the University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology is responsible for overseeing all business and administrative functions within the department. This includes managing budgets, operations, and personnel administration, as well as providing financial analysis and strategic planning. The role involves collaboration with various management levels to ensure effective departmental operations and support for clinical, educational, and research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, administer, and manage all business and administrative matters including budget, operations, programs, and personnel administration for the assigned department.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic planning, managing budgetary controls in partnership with various levels of management.
  • Assist Department Administrators with preparation of service functions required to sustain clinical, educational, and research operations.
  • Assist with Monthly Productivity Reporting and dissemination.
  • Responsible for faculty/staff Credentialing and onboarding/off-boarding duties.
  • Gather documents and create requisitions for new hires, costing allocations, reappointments, promotions, awards of tenure, and overload payments.
  • Interview prospective employees seeking employment within the department and provide recommendations to the Administrators.
  • Assist in managing daily operations and performance of the administrative staff to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Assist with the preparation of capital project budget for the department.
  • Provide information and ideas regarding strategy and operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
