About the position

The Senior Manager, Business Operations at Baylor College of Medicine is responsible for leading the administrative and financial operations of the Texas Children's operating unit. This dynamic role requires coordination with administrative leadership to align operational goals and strategies, ensuring the long-term success of the partnership between Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. The position demands strong operational and communication skills, with a focus on detail-oriented management and effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the TCH operating unit, including human resources, compliance, and financial management.
  • Manage human resources activities for the Texas Children's operating unit and several Texas Children's Hospital-based departments, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with TCH department practice administrators, College stakeholders, and TCH leadership to maximize effective business operations.
  • Oversee or originate special projects or programs.
  • Develop, manage, and control budgets and financial data for several Texas Children's Hospital-based departments.
  • Establish financial and operational systems to monitor, control, verify expenditures, and conduct financial analyses.
  • Oversee or originate pre-award and post-award related projects and tasks in support of TCH-based department faculty members.
  • Review and approve all statements of accounts, payroll, human resources, and invoice actions.
  • Manage primarily supervisors and experienced professional-level employees, including defining work responsibilities and prioritization, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop plans for improving utilization of resources and maintaining operating unit efficiency while seeking to minimize operational costs.
  • Formulate guidelines for TCH operating units' activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Seven years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an academic and/or healthcare environment.
