About the position

The Enterprise Change Management team at Blue Shield of California is dedicated to orchestrating priority change initiatives that have a significant impact across the enterprise. The Senior Manager, Change Management for strategic initiatives will play a pivotal role in leading large-scale change strategies and plans that align with fundamentally new ways of working throughout the organization. This position is crucial for driving initiatives that not only affect the operational aspects of the company but also influence leadership mindsets, talent practices, and the overall future of work, ensuring that Blue Shield meets its business and people priorities effectively. In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing change strategies for multiple strategic priorities, which may include cross-business integration and managing functional complexities. The individual will also be accountable for developing change capabilities within parts of the enterprise, ensuring that leaders at the SVP and VP levels receive the necessary coaching and advisory support. Collaboration with HR Business Partners, internal communications, and enterprise learning teams will be essential to foster a broader capability growth across the organization. The Senior Manager will establish standards for change management at Blue Shield, drawing from both internal and external best practices. This includes contributing to lessons learned and engaging with the wider community of change practitioners. Setting priorities, defining goals, and coaching change management talent will be key responsibilities, as will amplifying the organization’s ability to achieve desired business and people outcomes. The role will also focus on fostering organizational agility, enabling the enterprise to adapt more readily in a continually changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead change strategy for multiple strategic priorities for the enterprise, including cross-business integration and functional complexity.
  • Own overall change capability development for part of the enterprise.
  • Coach and advise leaders at the SVP/VP level, along with select partners such as HRBPs and internal communications.
  • Establish standards for change management at Blue Shield of California, leveraging internal and external practices.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and engage in the broader community of change practitioners.
  • Establish priorities, set goals, and coach change management talent.
  • Amplify and accelerate the ability to meet desired business and people outcomes of each priority.
  • Foster organizational agility through engagements across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • At least 10 years of prior relevant experience required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience required.
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation projects across an entire enterprise from initiation through sustainment required.
  • Certification and fluency in a variety of change models and methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ACMP, AIM, Kotter, GE) required.
  • Functional breadth in multiple related disciplines such as communications, adult learning, leadership development, org design, and design thinking required.
  • Strong diagnostic and research skills to break down complex challenges and identify root causes required.
  • Cultural awareness and empathy to create enduring solutions with partners and clients required.
