About the position

The role is responsible for leading the digital engineering organization at Vodafone UK, overseeing the delivery of all digital channels including App, Web, Chatbot, Voice, and Contact Centres. The position aims to build a world-class software engineering capability that aligns with Vodafone's global ambition to become a Digital and Connectivity Champion, focusing on security, quality, and customer-centric solutions. The role involves strategic leadership, financial management, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the vision and strategy for globally distributed digital engineers across various channels.
  • Accountable for financial ownership, budgeting, and vendor management.
  • Execute Agile, Lean, and DevSecOps best practices to drive continuous delivery.
  • Partner with Senior & GMT stakeholders, acting as the key point of contact across the business.
  • Ensure operational stability with a focus on connectivity and reliability, maintaining world-class MTTR and availability.
  • Lead engineering outreach and marketing efforts, organizing coding events and enhancing Vodafone's external presence.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of structuring and leading lean engineering teams.
  • In-depth understanding of technologies, processes, and architecture for delivering high-quality digital products.
  • Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle and multiple delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and shape high-performing teams across time zones.
  • Expertise in orchestrating collaboration between engineering and business teams.
  • Commitment to upholding best-in-class engineering practices for optimal product development and delivery.
  • Experience in budget planning and financial management in product-based organizations.
