About the position

The Director of Clean Energy Storage at AVANGRID is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of clean energy technologies, particularly focusing on energy storage and microgrids. This role involves strategic planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The director will oversee the development and implementation of various clean energy programs and initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, development, and launch of new pilots, projects, and programs related to energy storage and microgrids.
• Prepare business cases, program/project justifications, and stakeholder management plans.
• Develop and execute stakeholder management and communications plans.
• Monitor progress against plans and report to senior management.
• Coordinate efforts of cross-functional project teams and hold regular status meetings.
• Manage project objectives to achieve cost benefits and successful operational integration.
• Drive briefings and status reports for executives and regulatory agencies.
• Lead and manage the completion of energy storage and microgrid tariff development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in a regulated utility environment with direct project management experience.
• Strong financial background with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and tracking.
• Experience in communications and stakeholder engagement, strategy development, and public affairs.
• Proven leadership ability within a matrix environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Change Management, PMP, and/or Lean Six Sigma Certification(s).
• Employment experience with a gas or electric utility.
• Excellent research and report writing skills.
• Strong planning, coordinating, and organizational skills.
