About the position

The position supports the North America Clinical Development (NACD) Clinical Research Equity (CRE) strategy by integrating diversity and health equity into clinical trial planning and execution. The role focuses on creating an inclusive experience for underserved and underrepresented patients and sites, advocating for inclusive trial design, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance diverse enrollment in clinical trials.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee trial- or program-level diversity plan development within NNI's therapeutic areas and support execution of the plan with specific initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director to implement the CRE strategy to meet the needs of patients, sites, and caregivers.
  • Serve as NACD Subject Matter Expert (SME) on clinical trial diversity for local and global forums, initiatives, and communications.
  • Identify and develop partnerships aligned with NN global strategy to gain insights into patient barriers and drive diversity into trials.
  • Develop a consistent process for including diverse patient voices in clinical trial planning and execution.
  • Engage with diverse communities to understand their cultural, linguistic, and healthcare needs and address these through collaborative initiatives.
  • Develop and promote health education and awareness programs.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that promote health equity and address social determinants of health (SDOH).
  • Develop resources and support training for NN staff and healthcare professionals on disparities, health equity, cultural competence, implicit bias, and inclusive patient care.
  • Conduct research on cultural health disparities and use findings to inform improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure health-related materials are written in plain language for the target audience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build sustainable investigator and site relationships to drive diverse recruitment.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop emerging research centers with diverse patient populations.
  • Advocate for the needs of diverse patient populations involved in clinical trials based on site feedback and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze trial participant demographics and outcomes to assess diversity and inform strategies for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 9 years of progressively responsible clinical operations/development experience required, with related experience in clinical trial diversity preferred.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and best practices in clinical trial diversity.
  • Experience in ICH-GCP principles, regulatory requirements, and compliance as applied to trial design and conduct.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ownership of work and ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience communicating with site staff and patient/community organizations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, meeting efficiency, time management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Leadership skills to develop and communicate a vision and engage others.
  • Understanding of a metrics-driven organization.
