About the position

The Senior Manager of Communications for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals Division at Select Medical plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing marketing and communications strategies for over 30 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. This position is designed for a strategic thinker who is adept at managing multiple projects and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the hospitals' communication efforts. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategic Communications for Specialty Hospitals, the Senior Manager will work closely with hospital leaders to address their daily communication needs and ensure alignment with the overall business objectives of the division. In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for creating compelling content across various platforms, including print, digital, and social media, to support the hospitals' business priorities. This includes writing patient success stories, managing the review and approval process, and developing best practices for content creation and maintenance. The Senior Manager will also play a key role in integrating newly acquired or joint venture hospitals into the existing communication framework, ensuring a seamless transition and consistent messaging. Additionally, the Senior Manager will contribute to cross-divisional communications and branding initiatives, collaborating with colleagues in the Communications & Branding Department to drive impactful communication strategies. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, a strong team player mentality, and the ability to influence key stakeholders effectively. This position requires flexibility and adaptability, as well as a keen eye for detail to manage the fast-paced environment of healthcare communications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage communications initiatives for inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.
  • Create content for all mediums/platforms to support hospital business priorities.
  • Develop and manage content related to websites, social media, and digital marketing.
  • Write patient success stories and manage the review/approval process.
  • Integrate and stand up newly acquired or joint venture hospitals as signed.
  • Assist in the development of best practices for content creation, revisions, and maintenance.
  • Edit/draft divisional-level presentations, scripts, talking points, and announcements.
  • Ideate, draft articles, and serve as co-editor for the CIRH/IRH quarterly newsletter.
  • Work with the studio team to develop videos supporting hospital needs.
  • Exhibit creative thinking, exceptional writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively collaborate with and influence key stakeholders.
  • Embody a strong team player mentality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Eight-plus years of experience in the marketing-communications field.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record in objective setting and performance management.
  • Possess critical strategic thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams including I.S., Editorial Services, Video Services, and Creative Services.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and nimbleness.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Agency experience highly desirable.
