The office was established by Executive Order 68 and Local Law 155 in December 2021, marking it as the first mayoral office focused on the mental health of New Yorkers. OCMH collaborates with various City agencies to dismantle systemic and cultural barriers to care, promoting inclusivity and ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to essential mental health services. The office's commitment to equity, racial justice, and cultural responsiveness is central to its mission, emphasizing a community-centered, place-based, and strength-based approach that acknowledges diverse perspectives and experiences. The overarching goal is to create a mental health care system that not only addresses underlying inequities but also meets the unique needs of all New Yorkers. In this role, the selected candidate will work closely with the Senior Director of Communications to develop and implement both digital and print communication strategies aimed at effectively reaching target audiences and engaging stakeholders. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the office's website, ensuring that it serves as a valuable resource for the community. Additionally, the role involves leading the reporting of key performance indicators from events and digital communication activities, conducting research, and recommending changes based on metric analysis. The candidate will manage comprehensive project plans for events, workshops, roundtables, and presentations, as well as oversee the production and review of speeches, remarks, talking points, op-eds, press responses, and other written materials. Furthermore, the candidate will handle the development and tracking of responses to general inquiries from the public, including requests for materials and information.
