About the position

The Senior Community Recovery Manager will lead the Hurricane Helene and Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation in Georgia and South Carolina, focusing on community recovery efforts post-disaster. This role involves managing recovery staff, coordinating with community leaders, and implementing recovery programs to support individuals and communities affected by the hurricanes. The position is hybrid, requiring frequent travel to impacted areas, and is expected to last until September 2026, with potential for extension based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, manage and support Georgia and South Carolina community recovery staff.
  • Produce plans and reports as required.
  • Support grants, individual resilience, and preparedness efforts to maximize reach and impact in vulnerable communities.
  • Conduct community assessments to understand the impact of the storm and assess gaps between needs and resources.
  • Conduct strategic planning for community recovery interventions and facilitate meetings among community sectors.
  • Manage and direct outreach activities, establishing contacts and attending community meetings.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, schools, businesses, and government.
  • Monitor progress through collecting qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ensure that American Red Cross and partner services are available to diverse communities.
  • Communicate and coordinate external activities with internal Red Cross departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of program or service and ability to create presentations and develop training modules.
  • Ability to develop project plans, budgets, and strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills for continuous program improvements.
  • Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management.
  • Ability for planning, public speaking, project management, and process improvement.
  • Customer-oriented, organized, and able to operate with a solutions-oriented focus.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Experience in disaster recovery or humanitarian work.
