About the position

The Senior Manager of Cost Accounting at Vaco is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the monthly manufacturing close process. This includes ensuring that all costs incurred are accurately recorded, preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing reports. The position requires a thorough analysis of plant operational costs on a monthly basis, which is essential for the preparation of monthly manufacturing analysis reports. The Senior Manager will also oversee supply chain initiatives and lead monthly meetings with operations teams and leadership to discuss key cost findings and support business growth. In addition to managing the monthly close process, the Senior Manager will be responsible for preparing the annual cost-of-sales budgets and leading the annual standard cost roll. This includes creating and maintaining standard product costing and reviewing cost estimates for new products to establish selling prices. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with other departments on key operational projects and cost accounting requirements, ensuring that all aspects of cost accounting are aligned with the company's objectives. The Senior Manager will also manage the annual audit process related to cost of sales, manufacturing operations, and inventory. This involves working directly with auditors to provide timely analysis and answers to queries. Furthermore, the role includes assisting with the compilation of information necessary for tax return preparation and preparing commentary for cost-of-sales variances to budget. This position is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity of the manufacturing operations and ensuring that cost accounting practices are adhered to throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly manufacturing close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation.
  • Collect and analyze data about plant operational costs on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly manufacturing analysis reports and oversee supply chain initiatives.
  • Lead monthly manufacturing and supply chain meetings with operations teams and leadership.
  • Manage preparation of annual cost-of-sales budgets and lead annual standard cost roll.
  • Create and maintain standard product costing.
  • Review cost estimates of new products for establishing selling prices.
