About the position

The Senior Manager, Cost Accounting plays a crucial role in the growth and operational efficiency of the Company's Cell Therapy Manufacturing Center. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost accounting, which includes managing the cost of goods sold, bill of materials, and inventory costing. The Senior Manager will provide essential reporting and analysis to the corporate finance and accounting team, including the Senior Vice President of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer, to support both strategic and operational planning initiatives. In collaboration with the Manufacturing Finance, Corporate Accounting, and Corporate FP&A teams, the Senior Manager will support the monthly close processes and quarterly external financial reporting. This role is vital in ensuring a strong linkage between the data reported and the budgeted results, thereby enhancing the accuracy and reliability of financial information. The Senior Manager will also oversee the monthly and quarterly close processes for general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The responsibilities extend to preparing and analyzing financial statements for the LLC entity, managing overhead cost pool accumulation and allocation, and conducting thorough analyses of related costs and results. The Senior Manager will coordinate the timely close activities for inventory and cost of sales, including reconciliations and generating necessary journal entries. Additionally, this role involves overseeing the quarterly and year-end physical inventory processes in collaboration with the operations team, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations, and supporting the forecast and budget processes with relevant inputs regarding product volumes and costs. The Senior Manager is expected to proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and support internal and external financial audits. Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly/quarterly close process for general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare & analyze financial statements for LLC entity.
  • Ownership of overhead cost pool accumulation and allocation/absorption, as well as analysis of related costs and results.
  • Ensure and coordinate timely monthly and quarterly cost accounting close activities for inventory and cost of sales, including reconciliations and review of reconciliations where appropriate, including generating journal entries where appropriate.
  • Oversee quarterly and year-end physical inventory process with the operations team.
  • Coordinate calculation and recording of appropriate inventory reserves working with operations team.
  • Ownership and execution of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for inventory and cost of sales, as well as ongoing reviews for potential enhancements and improvements.
  • Support the forecast and budget process with timely inputs related to product volumes, purchases, expected overhead pool, costs per unit and cost of sales.
  • Analysis of manufacturing organization spending, as well as support of the forecast process, and support of the FP&A organization in the preparation of materials for the monthly and quarterly financial review meetings.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly PBC schedules to support the audit and interim reviews, including working with audit firm on deliverables and related questions.
  • Proactively identify and analyze opportunities to improve results and facility processes.
  • Support any internal and external financial audits.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Accounting
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting with cost accounting focus, biopharmaceutical industry, CPA and Big 4 experience is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth cost accounting knowledge and experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting
  • Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment.
  • Prior biotech or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Strong forecasting & analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate developed strategies and analysis clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to build partnerships across functions.
  • Detail oriented with insight to determine applicability of big picture.
