About the position

The Senior Manager - Data Center Operations at CoreSite is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all operational aspects and ensuring the uptime of the data center. This position requires providing technical expertise and program management for the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, security, and communications systems. The Senior Manager will also manage vendor relationships, ensure compliance with standards, and develop budgets while leading a team of data center operations staff.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Director - Data Center Operations in the development and supervision of the facility maintenance program.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and experience in telecom, cabling, electrical and mechanical support systems.
  • Ensure data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions and recommending new technologies.
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for all aspects concerning the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of site support systems.
  • Participate in the overall facility design and construction related to site operation, maintainability, and security.
  • Responsible for site physical security and compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement new maintenance standards with the approval of the Market Leader.
  • Ensure proper installation and commissioning of all new equipment within the facility.
  • Supervise and critique work performance by subcontractors to ensure adherence to standards, schedules, and specifications.
  • Maintain the database management of maintenance discrepancies and work with Operations management to resolve site issues.
  • Ensure operational, maintenance, and emergency Methods of Procedures (MOP's) are developed, reviewed, and audited.
  • Mentor and provide training for personnel in the planning, scheduling, and completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the development and maintain departmental budgets, focusing on cost-saving methods.
  • Lead customer meetings to review happenings on site and assist peers with developing teams.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment.
  • Expert knowledge of NEC, NFPA codes, and compliance issues regarding fire life safety.
  • Expert knowledge of fiber optics/cabling infrastructure and industry best practices.
  • Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with data trending/tracking and analysis.
  • Expert knowledge of energy efficiency best practices.
  • Proficient in Electrical, Mechanical, Protection, and controls systems commissioning.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in large commercial and industrial systems maintenance.
  • Experienced people manager with vendor management skills.
  • Experienced project management skills, including budgeting and contract management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a data center, hospital, or power plant environment.
  • Familiarity with facility preventative maintenance programs and budgets.
  • Experience in technical procedure and policy writing.
